About Dr. Allen
Dr. David Allen is a board certified pediatrician. He has been helping parents raise their children for over twenty years. A busy private practice in Augusta, Georgia, has given him the opportunity to observe hundreds of families struggle, fail, or succeed at raising kids.
Early in his practice, Dr. Allen realized parents were getting conflicting opinions regarding discipline and confusing explanations for medical problems. Dr. Allen began including discipline advice in his regular office visits and determined to make medical problems easier to understand. These steps were greatly appreciated by parents.
Dr. Allen was born in Gadsden, Alabama, one of five children. He credits his parents, Roy and Shirley Allen, with much of his approach to discipline. They were firm, consistent, and involved.
Dr. Allen grew up primarily in Rome, Georgia. He attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, graduating in 1978. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Davis, that same year and moved on to the Medical College of Georgia for four years of medical school. He followed this with a three year pediatric residency program at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Allen opened his pediatric practice in Augusta in 1985.
Dr. Allen and Kathy have three children, Michael, Katherine, and Amanda. The children are now college age, so Dr. Allen has experienced all of the child-rearing years.
Our best to your family. And give your kids a hug tonight.
